A Note from Pastor David:
Hello FALL! As we finished up a short series on Love Thy Neighbor, I asked myself these questions: With whom are you spending quality time? Who are you serving? Are you loving them well? What challenges are you facing with loving people? Lack of compassion? Struggle with un-forgiveness? Past hurts? Broken relationships? Ask the Lord to help you love people like he loves people. Ask him to help you love yourself like he loves you. Spend some time in quiet thinking through these questions, and your life will be better for it.
The Ordination of Daniel Mendoza went very well. With about 100 people in attendance, we had time to focus on the role of a pastor/elder and pray over not only our newest elder, but also two other young men in the church who made their calling to vocational ministry public. Joel (Kenia) Barrerra and Luke (Tiffany) Paine both came forward during the altar call to be recognized as pursuing ministry as a future vocation. They are both currently in seminary and have served in our church for some time. Along with their wives, we have the privilege of preparing them for ministry in the days ahead. Praise the Lord for men and women who desire to lead the church and serve God.
Our new series for the Fall is going to be fun. The Weird, Confusing, and Unbelievable, but Undeniably God series will focus on the significance of the Bible for living our lives. As we look at some weird, confusing, and unbelievable things in scripture, my hope is that you will come to believe that the Bible is undeniably God. This series will be a great one for those family and friends who struggle to believe that God, Jesus, or the Bible are real. While the world feels that the Bible is full of contradictions and inconsistencies, I will give evidence to that fallacy.
We also have some great ministry goals for the Fall. Our Summer goal setting was a huge success, so we have established goals for the Fall. They are listed below for your information.
Operating Budget - $200,000 over three months. The goal is to hit the annual budget of $600,000 in operations. I know this number is huge, but we have some who have already committed to this great effort. With God’s help, we can do this!
Debt Reduction - Bring the facility debt to under $1.3 million. We have seen our debt reduced significantly with extra principal payments each month this year. We will continue to do the same each month through the execution of our debt. I can’t wait to increase our space, but we have to decrease and hopefully eliminate our debt first!
Missions/Benevolence - Support three mission opportunities to meet the needs of underprivileged children in our community. We will prepare 26 Thanksgiving Baskets to families in need through Oak Grove Elementary. We will give 26 children their Christmas gifts through Prison Fellowship and Regency Elementary. The number 26 stands for 2026! Then we will also open our facilities to these families and others for our annual Children’s Christmas Movie Night, giving a gift to help children in attendance.
Supporting these three efforts will set us up for success as we begin 2027, which will be the second year in our LEGACY X campaign. If you are newer to our church, look here for more information, LEGACY X. We have a long way to go, but “inch by inch” as they say. We will get there! For those of you who are considering year end giving, our Legacy X campaign would be a great effort for you to support. Feel free to schedule a time with me for a deeper discussion.
Lastly, our annual Fall Fest is upon us. Make sure to sign up helping us to minister to our immediate community. Our heart is that we would build new relationships and bolster existing ones with people in our city. October 24th from 6:00-8:30 will be a time to “love on our neighbors”. Giving Matters
In 2025, we launched the Legacy X capital campaign as a step of faith toward the future of Watershed. This campaign is about creating space for people, ministry, and continued growth. Your generosity plays a real role in helping us move forward together.
Care and Prayer
Through hospital visits, home visits, and moments of need, our care team steps in to support people right where they are. Alongside this, our prayer ministry continues to gather, faithfully lifting up needs and covering our church in prayer.
