Watershed Church Monthly Newsletter | August 2026 | 13th Edition
A Note from Pastor David:
We are rounding out the Summer with all engines full throttle! Attendance is up. Giving is up. Activity is up. And most importantly more lives are being changed. Last year, we set some goals to try “to move the needle” as they say.
The first goal was to hire another staff member or two. One would be tough, two a stretch. We made a jump to hire two full-time staff: a bookkeeper, then Associate Pastor to cover Life Groups. The opportunity was in front of us, but quite a faith step…actually faith STRETCH. In addition, we need more help with book keeping, because our former bookkeeper moved away. Kenia Barrera became the person to fill that spot. We had noticed a lack of young families with children and even less families with teens. Corey Pena our Associate Pastor came on in May of 2025. We knew that bringing on an Associate Pastor of Congregational Life and Families would help immensely, but adding the full responsibility of children’s ministry to his plate would be too much. So we took the plunge asking God to provide for a third position. Only God could make that happen! Sarah Lugo became our Children’s Ministry Coordinator in September 2025. Candidly, let me say that this year has been a year of growth, excitement, and a move of God. While I don’t track the number of people in our services, I can tell you that many Sundays both services are healthy and full of energy! Children’s ministry, Youth ministry, and Life Groups are growing by leaps and bounds. We have a very warm, healthy ministry brewing! Thank you for your contribution to helping us reach our goals. Look at the lives that God is touching!
Speaking of children and teens, let’ s pray together over this whole month for all the teachers and kids who will be starting back to school. Some will choose public school. Others will be choose private education or the homeschool process. We should pray for safety first, then a well-rounded education that focuses on the fundamentals of learning. Pray that teachers and parents alike will have the space to actually teach, and students will have the capacity to learn. Pray against distractions like crime, public policy, illness, social welfare, and the like. Pray for parents patience, stress, and overall wellbeing.
So at the beginning of the Summer or end of Spring (May 1) we begin another set of financial mission related goals toward our LEGACY X Campaign. I know we keep putting this information in front of you, but that is the plight of a multi-year campaign. Here is where we stand to date:
Our Summer Goals:
1. Maintain Budget Giving - while we have not maintained the $50,000 monthly goal, some substantial gifts came in during July catching us up for the Summer. We are now at $152,163.20 for May, June, and July truly ahead of our goal! We only need $47,836.80 to make the Summer Goal, and we still have nearly the entire month of August ahead of us. What part of our goal can you help to accomplish? For those of you who are number crazy like me, here is some more information. Monthly averages for 2026: $45,714 average monthly giving first 7 months or $4,286 monthly average shortfall first 7 months. That means we are $30,002 behind to date. Giving in the Fall is always better as we get closer and closer to the end of the year. Go GOD! Please pray about how you can help meet Summer Goal and reach annual giving of $600,000.00 for 2026.
2. Pay off more debt. Another goal for the summer was to get under $1.4 million which is our current indebtedness. With our push to get under that amount, we made it! Now our current building debt is $1.389 million. What a jump! Every principal dollar paid in advance saves our church thousands of dollars in interest.
3. Support missions love offering. We are also still working on this amount, but we will have something to give to our two sister churches in San Marcos, CA and Prague, CR.
Let me just say how proud I am of you! Thank you for your contributions to our summer goals. Hopefully we will round off the summer and all of 2026 really well.

Giving Matters
In 2025, we launched the Legacy X capital campaign as a step of faith toward the future of Watershed. This campaign is about creating space for people, ministry, and continued growth. Your generosity plays a real role in helping us move forward together.
